The Bradt New Travel Writer of the Year 2022

I am delighted to be able to say that I have made the longlist for the Bradt New Travel Writer of the Year 2022 competition.

This year’s theme was It was strangely quiet… which prompted my piece, Fireworks at Midnight, based on a nocturnal experience in a Peruvian forest.

Although I didn’t manage to climb up to the shortlist, Fireworks at Midnight was ‘Highly Commended’ by the panel of judges, some of whose books are on my shelf at home!

It is always encouraging to hear that someone has enjoyed something I’ve written, so to reach the longlist in this tough competition is a surprising happy moment that I shall savour.
